Best Beaches in Dennis

Cape Cod – and Dennis, in particular, are known for having beaches flanking both the North and South sides of the town limits. No matter which direction you choose, you will come across beaches that offer seclusion, wildlife, or nearby dining options that can round out your stay and provide you the most value for your time on the coast. There are many benefits to beaches in Dennis that other areas do not provide—ease of access, a proliferation of options, and lifeguards present at almost all public areas. Era Real Estate on Cape Cod compiled this fantastic list of beaches and amenities, so this article will help you zero in on the right beach for your visit. Or, even better, visit them all! Finding your perfect beach fit is just one of the many opportunities that will have you visiting Cape Cod and The Blue Hydrangea again and again.

Best for Families

When traveling with children or elderly family members, having an accessible beach with plenty of amenities is the best way to skip the hassle and get straight to the fun. Mayflower Beach is the place to head when it comes to convenience and access. This north side beach has a snack bar with lots of options and tidal pools that stretch as far as the eye can see during low tide. The water is warm (for a New England beach anyways), the sand is soft, and the waves lap gently at the shore. There’s a snack bar to grab a quick bite. If you have young kids, this is the beach of choice! However, you must arrive very early to score a parking space.  Another popular beach for families is West Dennis Beach. This mile-long beach features a playground for the kids, public bathrooms, a snack bar, lifeguards on duty, and parking directly on the beach. For convenience, West Dennis beach cannot be beaten. Access to West Dennis Beach is found right off of Dennis Beach road.

Best for Wildlife

When you want to see nature during your day at the beach, Crowes Pasture Conservation Area includes secluded beach access alongside piping plover habitats, rare vegetation, protected marshes, and more. With food and beverage options nearby, you are never too far away from conveniences as you step into nature. Whether combing the beaches or the forests, you’re bound to come across something unique during your visit. The area is dog-friendly and even includes off-roading options for adventurous visitors. Please consult maps before parking, as access is limited in some designated restoration areas.

Best for Nightlife

While Dennis doesn’t have the same type of nightlife as a large city, it features seaside restaurants that offer karaoke and dancing in the evening.  While this might be a downside for partiers, it means that there are plenty of options for those who want to enjoy local cuisine before walking down to the shore for some privacy as the sun dips low. Sea Street Beach is an excellent option for these kinds of nights due to the proximity to all of Dennis’ other sights. As you might imagine, access and parking may be found off of Sea St—close to Dennis’ coastal core.

Owner’s Favorite

The owners, Megan and John got married on Corporation Beach, on the coldest June 1st in Cape Cod history! This held special significance for Megan, as her parents also got married on a Dennis beach, on horseback nonetheless. Corporation is another North side beach with tide pools, soft sand, and gentle waves. Amenities include a snack shack and swings! These are only a few of the dozens of beaches in the Cape Cod area.
